Description

Cushion creating for the Needlework Development Scheme Festival of Britain exhibition of 1951.  Designed by Bob Stewart and worked by Kath Whyte.

Physical description

Design suggests a firework display with “Festival of Britain 1951” embroidered in white and coloured embroidery on blue linen background. Robert Stewart and Kath Whytes names embroidered on the back of the cushion.

Unknown.  Forms part of the Needlework Development Scheme collection.  When the Scheme was disbanded in 1961, c100 items were gifted to the Glasgow School of Art.
